FAITH IN ACTION: HEART TO HEART VALENTINE BREAKFAST

Pastor Greg Enstrom, First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, will be the guest speaker for the Eighth Annual Faith in Action Fundraiser Breakfast. Ticket donation is $25.00 per person. Faith in Action- Fort Wayne is a program of National Network Foundation administered by HealthVisions of Fort Wayne. This program trains religious congregations of many interfaith churches and mobilizes volunteers to provide informal and non-medical caregiving services to help senior individuals with chronic conditions remain independent. Volunteers provide such services as minor repairs, light house cleaning, lawn care, shopping, friendly visits and telephone reassurance.There is little or no cost for services depending on the needs. This series of live music performances will be offered twice a month at Calhoun Street Soups & Salads, 1915 Calhoun St., in Fort Wayne. Hosted by bassist Darrin “Cookie” Moore, northeastern Indiana jazz fans will be able to hear and connect with the best up-and-coming musicians in the region. The inaugural Valentine’s Day performance will also celebrate Moore’s new CD “A New Love.” Admission is $10 per person.

In honor of Black History Month, the Fort Wayne Negro Business and Professional Women (NBPW) is hosting a “Youth Speaks Poetry Jam” for ages 13 – 20 in the Fort Wayne area. This event will feature poets, spoken word stars, rappers, singers and performance artists. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for a cash prize. Work must be original and performances should be under three (3) minutes long. A copy of your material must be submitted with registration for content approval by February 13, 2010.
