CAMP GOOD GRIEF
YMCA Camp Potawotami

Camp is a great place to meet new friends, spend some quality time outdoors, maybe try something new and fun, like a zip line, and the chance for just some plain ole’ fun! But a grief camp, does that sound like much fun? Actually, if you ask any of the 50 children who attended Camp Good Grief last year, they would say, “Absolutely!” Camp Good Grief, offered by Erin’s House for Grieving Children, is a two-night, three-day camp for children who have recently experienced the death of a loved one. Camp Good Grief provides a setting that is comfortable and safe for children, ages 8 to 13, who are learning how to adjust to life after experiencing the death of a loved one. Often a grieving child feels that he/she is the only person in the world who is experiencing these thoughts and emotions. Camp Good Grief can provide a decreased sense of isolation. Children return from camp with stronger and/or improved skills and resources necessary to identify and express their emotions in positive ways. For more information about Camp Good Grief, please contact Erin’s House at www.erinshouse.org or by phone at (260) 423-2466. Camp Good Grief, which is offered at no charge to campers or their families, will be held at the YMCA’s Camp Potawotami. Camper families must meet with the Erin’s House Camp Director by August 5th in order to register.
