The Voices of Unity Youth Choir prepares for Choral Olympics -Voices of Unity Youth Choir As INK reported in March, the Voices of Unity Youth Choir, under the direction of Marshall White, has been invited to represent the United States at the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China, July 15-26, 2010. The competition is regarded as the “Olympics of Choral Music.” The local choir is the first-ever group from Indiana to participate in the World Choir Games, the largest international choral competition in the world.

However, in order to make the historic trip, the choir needs community support and donations. Voices of Unity hopes to garner some of that support during its Dreams of Gold Community Rally to be held Saturday, April 24th at 6:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1331 Gay Street. At the rally, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the choir and the competition, and meet the young people as they share their excitement about representing our city, state and nation as young ambassadors.

“The Dreams of Gold Campaign Community Rally is designed to be an evening of awareness, education and celebration as we collectively work together to inspire the city of Fort Wayne to get excited and support the Voices of Unity USA Choir Olympic Team,” says choir director Marshall White (left). “The evening will include words from dignitaries, student and parents stories, singing presentations, and a call to action. We want this evening to be full of purpose that will ignite excitement and celebration.” To make a donation, you can visit www.DreamsofGold.org To learn about other ways to make a contribution to the effort, call Unity Performing Arts Foundation at (260) 481-6719.
